Russia between East and West: Politics, Ideology, Diplomacy

"Russia between East and West: Politics, Ideology, Diplomacy" is a gesture of appreciation to the teacher and colleague, the long-time teacher of Russian history at the Faculty of History of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" Prof. Dimitar Vechev. The volume includes scientific works of twenty-two historians from Bulgaria and Russia. They analyze various problems from the history of the Russian state in its various forms (empire, Soviet Union, Russian Federation) during the long and turbulent period spanning the 19th, 20th and early 21st centuries. Various aspects of the Bulgarian-Russian relations are presented relationships, and there are also other topics that have a more direct or indirect relation to Dimitar Vechev's scientific research. Those subjects in which he showed special interest - the development of Russian messianism or the evolution of socio-political ideas in Russia and Western Europe - have not been forgotten.
