The book collection “The Dialogue with the Other: Balkan Dimensions of European Identity” (compiled and edited by Minka Zlateva) presents the reports of 57 participants from 14 countries in the Eleventh International Science Conference on the same topic, held on 14th and 15th of November 2008 in Sofia and dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. The conference was organized by the UNESCO Chair “Communication and Public Relations” in the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in cooperation with the National Commission of the Republic of Bulgaria for UNESCO and was sponsored by UNESCO under project ERC/RSC/PP/2/08/EU2/BUL/L.954.
The publications are grouped in five main sections: “Europe, the Balkans, and their Identity”, “Globalization and Media Communication”, “The Dialogue with the Other within Balkan Parameters”, “Platforms of Balkan Dialogue”, “Relations and Perspectives with Pan-Balkan Dimensions”.
The book collection is addressed to scientists, lecturers and students in the field of communication, media, public relations, history, Balkan studies, European studies, culturology and national psychology.
